Building to bring veterans home

On November 10, Habitat Wake celebrated the veterans in our community with our 2023 Veterans Build! Thanks to the Clayton High School Navy JROTC for presenting the colors at our kickoff ceremony. We appreciate Credit Suisse, MetLife, Builders Mutual and Eaton for their support and time spent volunteering.

This build allowed veterans to come together with a veteran homebuyer as we built and raised the walls for a home at our Old Poole Place community. Happy Veterans Day, and thank you to all our brave veterans for your service.

Meet Anna & Vernese

Habitat Wake helps people of all ages realize their dream of homeownership. Anna and her sister, Vernese, lived together foryears before they were able to afford their own home. With support from Habitat Wake, they were able to make that dream a reality.

Habitat Wake makes homeownership a possibility for hundreds offamilies through affordable mortgages based on household income.Anna and Vernese combined their incomes to qualify for a home.

“I couldn’t do this without my sister, and my sister couldn’t do this without me.”

Habitat Wake’s mission is to bring people together to build homes, communities and hope. And, thanks to donors like you, Habitat Wakeis able to serve more homebuyers like Luz, whose dream of owning her own home was realized last year through Habitat Wake’s homeownership program.

“It’s always been a dream of mine to own a home. I was persistent, and I’m finally here.”

Election Day is coming up – don't forget your Voter ID!

Bring your voter ID to the polls!

Voting is a powerful way to use your voice and support affordable housing advocates running for office. Before you go to the polls it is important to remember that, starting this year, voters will need to present an acceptable form of Voter ID at the ballot box. This could include a NC driver’s license or any of the other types of IDs found on this helpful list from Democracy NC:

Remembering Dewey Alley

VP of Faith Relations and Habitat Wake founder Rick Beech remembers Dewey Alley, former Habitat Wake board chair, who passed away on Oct. 7.

We have lost two Habitat giants in the past year. Both were major factors in helping Habitat Wake become what it is today. We stand on their powerful legacy.
