MLK Day Weekend Recap: Baptist Build

January 20, 2016

Baptist Build 2016

The 2016 Baptist Build is bringing churches together to carry out Habitat's mission of building homes, communities and hope. Churches from the Wake Missionary Baptist Association and the Raleigh Baptist Association are coming together to build two homes in the Neuse Ridge community in Raleigh. Baptist Build churches provide the labor and funds to build two homes, as well as make significant financial contributions to the cost of construction materials and professional subcontractors.

Construction began on Saturday, Jan. 16, as a part of a weekend-long Martin Luther King Jr. Day Celebration. On Sunday, historically black churches worshiped alongside historically white churches at the kickoff worship service. The groups ended the weekend with a youth build day, calling on youth groups from both Baptist associations to volunteer for MLK Day of Service.

We are excited for the 2016 Baptist Build. Construction is expected to last for 10 weeks. Baptist Build will conclude with a dedication of the two homes.
