The ROAD to Housing Act is a bipartisan housing package that includes nearly 30 standalone proposals. The package was voted unanimously out of the Senate Banking, Housing, and Urban Affairs Committee in July.
ROAD was passed by the Senate on Thursday, Oct 9 as an amendment to the National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA).
The House won’t take up ROAD or the NDAA as-is, but they are expected to propose their own housing package. Habitat is prioritizing the following provisions from ROAD to be included in the House version:
There is no time to wait — leave your House members a quick message now asking them to support the ROAD provisions. You can also call your Senators to thank them for supporting ROAD in the NDAA.
Hi, my name is [NAME] and I’m a constituent from [YOUR CITY] and a Habitat for Humanity supporter. I'm calling to ask [ELECTED OFFICIAL NAME] to support policies that increase the supply of affordable homes and improve the effectiveness of existing programs. The Senate recently passed the ROAD to Housing Act – and I’d like to see the House lead on housing policy by supporting its’ own version of the bill, especially these provisions: the Whole Home Repairs Act, the Rural Housing Reform Act, the Unlocking Housing Supply through Streamlined and Modernized Reviews Act, and HOME modernization. Thank you.
