The ROAD to Housing Act is a bipartisan housing package that includes nearly 30 standalone proposals. The package was voted unanimously out of the Senate Banking, Housing, and Urban Affairs Committee in July.
ROAD was passed by the Senate on Thursday, Oct 9 as an amendment to the National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA).
UPDATE: The House Financial Services Committee advanced its version of similar housing legislation, the Housing for the 21st Century Act. This means that this housing bill is now eligible to be voted on the House floor- at the discretion of House leadership.
There is no time to wait — leave your House members a quick message now asking them to support the Housing for the 21st Century Act. You can also call your Senators to thank them for supporting ROAD in the NDAA.
Hi, my name is [NAME] and I’m a constituent from [YOUR CITY] and a Habitat for Humanity supporter. I'm calling to ask [ELECTED OFFICIAL NAME] to support policies that increase the supply of affordable homes and improve the effectiveness of existing programs. The Senate passed the ROAD to Housing Act – and I’d like to see the House lead on housing policy by supporting its own version of the bill, the Housing for the 21st Century Act. Thank you.
