Many of our neighbors have been asking how they can do something about the affordable housing crisis in our community. That's why we launched an advocacy volunteer program that gives you the opportunity to take action for affordable housing policy. Habitat Wake Advocacy Ambassadors actively engage in issue-based campaigns, meet with policymakers, and attend events to influence policy changes and promote equitable, safe and affordable housing for all.
By volunteering as an Advocacy Ambassador, you will:
- Support Habitat Wake’s local campaign work. Issues we cover are property tax relief, local funding for affordable housing, housing displacement, and much more
- Learn how to organize your community take action for affordable housing
- Engage with and lobby local elected officials
- Connect with other local advocates to tackle the affordable housing crisis
- Advocacy gives us a voice on the issues that matter the most to us. Through advocacy, we can inform lawmakers, influence policy, and help set an equitable foundation for generations to come.
This program is open to anyone in Wake or Johnston County, regardless of age or experience, and is 100% free!
