About Habitat for Humanity of Wake County

Our mission:

Seeking to put God’s love into action, Habitat for Humanity brings people together to build homes, communities and hope.

Our vision:

A world where everyone has a decent place to live.

About Habitat Wake:

There is a tremendous need for affordable housing in our community. One in four families in our community is cost-burdened, meaning they pay too much of their income toward housing at the expense of other necessities like groceries, healthcare and education.

To help meet this need, Habitat Wake provides homeownership opportunities for families making less than 80% AMI and preserves existing affordable homes.  We also advocate for policy change that will increase access to housing for everyone.

Since 1985, Habitat Wake has built more than 850 safe, affordable, energy-efficient homes in all parts of Wake and Johnston counties.  We've served nearly 2,000 families with new construction, home preservation and global building.

We can't do this work alone: a core mission tenant is bringing people together. We are able to build, preserve and advocate because of support from faith groups, corporations, foundations, other non-profit organizations, municipalities, individual volunteers and donors.

Our motivation:

Habitat for Humanity is Christian organization and seeks to put God’s love into action. We work with and serve people of all different faiths and walks of life. Our vision is a world in which all God’s children have a safe place to live.

Habitat for Humanity was also founded on a commitment to racial equity, reconciliation and justice. Habitat Wake has recommitted to these principles, and we invite our supporters to learn alongside us

How you can help:

The need for affordable housing is growing more urgent as the pandemic continues and as our area grows. We need your ongoing support in advocating, funding and engaging with our work.

This year, Habitat Wake will build 40 new homes locally, complete exterior repairs on 40 homes, and advocate for housing aid for families impacted by COVID-19 and property tax relief for homeowners.  Help us get there! Donate, advocate or volunteer with us.
