The Habitat homeownership program is a partnership between families, donors and volunteers. The initial outcome of the collaboration is a safe, decent, home that a family can affordably purchase and maintain. It is the opportunity for families living on modest incomes to have sufficient money to spend on healthcare and education rather than on escalating rent. Consequently, Habitat homeownership becomes financial security for families and, due to the nature of homeownership, stability for the broad community.
Extend the American dream of homeownership, promote family stability, and build cohesive communities.
As more people and organizations join Habitat Wake’s mission of building up people through homebuilding and homeownership, we create a legacy that ends poverty housing forever. Thank you for our support and efforts in our shared mission.
House Sponsors on Building Sites
Sponsors have the opportunity to construct Habitat homes alongside the future homeowners. A day (or days) spent volunteering can be great for team-building. Says Habitat Wake's Volunteer Services Manager, Shanna Newell: “Volunteers are often surprised to discover that you can do as much good for yourself as you can for a neighbor in need. Volunteers also have a chance to discover their talents and to develop a sense of well-being."
Scenes from construction sites show the fun and teamwork of being on site.
