How Can Your Church Sponsor a Habitat Home?
Transforming Lives and Communities
Habitat homeowners achieve long-term improved wealth and well being through the unique partnership opportunities that Habitat provides. To qualify for a Habitat home:
- Future homeowners must have a compelling need for housing and a strong willingness to partner with Habitat.
- Habitat does not give houses away – all homeowners must invest a minimum of 250 “sweat equity” hours on their house or other Habitat houses.
- Homeowners pay a $1,250 down payment and qualify for a zero-percent interest mortgage. Mortgage payments help Habitat build more homes for people in need.
By promoting community partnerships, self-sufficiency, and homeownership, Habitat for Humanity has built more than 260 homes in Wake County and more than 200,000 homes around the world for people in need of safe, decent, affordable housing. Our goal in Wake County is to build our 300th house in 2006.
Building a Habitat Home Helps Build a Healthy Church
- Church members get to participate in a fun, hands-on mission opportunity that can involve all ages.
- Churches can partner with a broad spectrum of the faith community and others within Wake County
- Churches get to help provide a tangible, long-term asset that will benefit a family and the community for years to come.
