Advocacy and Policy Priorities
The Board of Directors of Habitat Wake has approved policy priorities that govern our work. With such a great need it is important to prioritize. In addition to supporting the priorities of Habitat for Humanity International at the global and national level, Habitat Wake’s state and local priorities are:
- Increased funding for affordable housing;
- Robust public transit options with access to affordable housing; and
- Land use and planning decisions that include affordable housing.
Advocacy Committee In 2013 Habitat Wake first formed an Advocacy Committee of the Board of Directors. The committee currently meets monthly and is made up of volunteers who have expressed an interest in advocacy or who offer expertise on housing and policy issues. The current chair of the committee is Susan Corts Hill, a board member and former advocate in Washington, D.C. for Habitat for Humanity International.
