Home Building Starts with the Dirt

Habitat Wake develops land parcels for home building ranging from very modest single lots and small neighborhoods all the way to large mixed-income communities. Since 1985, the Habitat homeownership model has underpinned the construction of more than 300 homes in Wake County, allowing these families to put down roots and form neighborhoods. The first step in all our building projects is securing suitable land.

Partner with us to build a better future for families in need - starting with the dirt.

If you own land you wish to sell or know of land parcels to recommend, we want to hear from you. If your property is listed with a real estate professional, we would welcome the opportunity to discuss our interest in your property.

Habitat does not pass along increased land and development costs to homeowners.

Ideal Land Tracts

Habitat Wake builds an average of 30 homes a year through partnerships with homeowner families, sponsors and volunteers. Referrals from Habitat supporters are the best way for us to identify residential parcels in a variety of sizes and locations. With your lead, we can increase our "land bank" of ready-to-build lots.

To best use resources and manage projects, we prefer to build a minimum of four or maximum of 35 houses in any one location. We build in safe neighborhoods, preferably close to a busline and schools with easy access to shopping.

Wake County Locations

To meet the dramatically growing need to develop affordable housing and quality neighborhoods throughout Wake County, we are seeking leads on land for sale or donation. We need land in all 12 Wake County municipalities:
