Part-Time Pickup Driver for the ReStore
Reports to: Store Manager/ ReStore Administrator
Summary Description: The Donation Pickup Driver manages off-site donations, transporting them to the ReStore.
General duties include but are not limited to:
- Ability to drive and operate a manual box truck safely
- Document correspondence with donors
- Perform excellent customer/donor service
- Load and pack materials to minimize damage
- Screen and examine each donation on site
- Coordinate donation receipts with ReStore Administrator
- Lead in proper unloading of donated materials
- Price all the material that comes off the truck
- Periodically review and revise prices of these items on sales floor
- Coordinate with ReStore Administrator on delivering recycled materials
- Maintain recycling services area
- Maintain equipment: tags, registration, maintenance on truck, etc.
- Assist in receiving and sorting incoming donations
- Lead others in receiving and processing materials
- Support/lead proper movement and storage of materials
- When necessary, assist in moving materials onto the store floor
- Assist customers in finding, purchasing, and loading materials
- Perform other duties as assigned by Operations Mgr. & Store Mgr.
- Act as a representative of Habitat for Humanity, a community leader.
Requirements:
- “Clean” criminal background check
- Excellent driving record
- Ability to lift a minimum of 50lbs., continuously
- Ability to work independently and follow instructions
- Team player with a good attitude; intent on helping others and the community

AmeriCorps
Each spring, Habitat Wake recruits a team of 5-7 AmeriCorps members to serve September - July as construction supervisors. (Habitat Wake has accepted applications for 2007-2008.) These AmeriCorps members assist in the construction of homes under the supervision of the full-time Construction Superintendents on staff at Habitat Wake. In their roles, the AmeriCorps members are responsible for directing and training the work of all on-site volunteers.
An independent federal agency created the AmeriCorps service program. The program connects Americans of all ages and backgrounds with opportunities to give back to their communities. AmeriCorps 2008-2009
Habitat Wake has accepted applications for 2007-2008. Experience working with diverse populations and leading volunteers preferred, construction skills a plus. Must be enthusiastic and committed to Habitat's mission and service thru AmeriCorps. Hours are full-time Tuesday through Saturday for an 11-month (1700hour) term. AmeriCorps members must:
- Be 18
- Be a U.S. citizen or permanent resident
- Possess a GED or equivalent be able to lift at least 50 pounds.
A living stipend ($11,100 for 2007-2008) with additional housing supplement and health insurance will be provided. An educational award ($4,725 for 2007-2008) will be given upon completion of 11-month term; this award can be applied toward past or future student loans.
