AmeriCorps

Each spring, Habitat Wake recruits a team of 5-7 AmeriCorps members to serve September - July as construction supervisors. (Habitat Wake has accepted applications for 2007-2008.) These AmeriCorps members assist in the construction of homes under the supervision of the full-time Construction Superintendents on staff at Habitat Wake. In their roles, the AmeriCorps members are responsible for directing and training the work of all on-site volunteers.

An independent federal agency created the AmeriCorps service program. The program connects Americans of all ages and backgrounds with opportunities to give back to their communities. AmeriCorps is often referred to as "the domestic Peace Corps." Learn more about the program at www.americorps.org or from Habitat for Humanity International.

AmeriCorps 2008-2009

Habitat Wake has accepted applications for 2007-2008. Experience working with diverse populations and leading volunteers preferred, construction skills a plus. Must be enthusiastic and committed to Habitat's mission and service thru AmeriCorps. Hours are full-time Tuesday through Saturday for an 11-month (1700hour) term. AmeriCorps members must:

A living stipend ($11,100 for 2007-2008) with additional housing supplement and health insurance will be provided. An educational award ($4,725 for 2007-2008) will be given upon completion of 11-month term; this award can be applied toward past or future student loans.
