Systems and Appliances in Habitat Wake Homes
Whirlpool donates a refrigerator and stove for all Habitat homes nationwide.
Habitat Wake provides a purchase program (setting prices for medium-to-high end Whirlpool appliances at significantly less than retail) for dishwashers, icemakers, clothes washers and dryers. Houses are wired for a garbage disposal and a microwave as well as a freezer in the storage shed. Each Habitat Wake home includes:
- Central heat and air
- High-efficiency 14 SEER heat pump
- Refrigerator (Energy Star® certified)
- Water heater (Energy Star® certified)
- Electric range (Energy Star® certified)
- Laundry hook-ups
Whirlpool is one of Habitat for Humanity’s largest corporate partners. The company donates a range and ENERGY STAR®-qualified refrigerator to every new Habitat for Humanity home built in North America. Each year, thousands of Whirlpool employees volunteer their own time to Habitat builds around the country. The partnership began in 1999, and Whirlpool plans to support every new Habitat home built globally by 2011, either through product donations, cash or home sponsorship.
