DeConstruction

Deconstruction volunteers salvage donated building materials from properties where a renovation or demolition is scheduled. The salvaged materials are sold in our ReStore, and divert usable building materials from landfills.
We work with volunteers on Deconstruction sites on Wednesdays, Thursdays, Fridays, and Saturdays. Our work day is from 8:30am – 4:00pm.
The location for each Deconstruction project is determined one day in advance based on weather, project priority, and the number of volunteers signed up to help on any given day. Volunteers for Deconstruction will be contacted at least one day prior to their volunteer slot with the exact location of the next day’s project.
No experience is necessary! New volunteers receive coaching and careful instruction from experienced volunteers and deconstruction staff. Individuals and groups are welcome. We work hard and safely, and have a great time taking things apart!
Please Note:
- Volunteers and staff take a break for lunch, but lunch is NOT provided. You may bring your own lunch or go off-site for lunch.
- Community Service Hours required or recommended by court MAY NOT be completed on the Deconstruction site. See our ReStore volunteer opportunity page for more information.
