Meet Us Monday: En’Janet Joseph, Director of Neighborhood Engagement

Name and Title: En’Janet Joseph – Director of Neighborhood Engagement

Hometown: Fort Washington, Maryland

Current town: Raleigh

When did you start working at Habitat Wake?: October 2012

What is your favorite thing about working for Habitat?: The opportunity to journey alongside and empower homeowners as they navigate the process of homeownership, and neighborhood residents as they work to improve the quality of life in their community. Habitat Wake helps to make a tangible difference within the community and I am honored to be a part of that.

What does your typical work day look like?: Most days are busy! With several meetings, phone calls and connections made with  partner agencies. Also, providing a lot of encouragement, guidance, support, resources and empowerment!

What do you do in your spare time?: Relax and spend time cherishing the precious moments with my family. We enjoy anything that includes a beautiful scenery..the beach, the park, and our backyard are a few favorites.

Do you have any pets or children?: Yes, one precious baby son, Kingston. No pets yet and one absolutely amazing husband, Wilkins.

Favorite meal: I am from Maryland so seafood of course! Shrimp, steamed crabs, scallops and fish are some of my favorites.

Do you have any strange hidden talents?: I love to dance..I think it’s a great outlet and form of expression. Since I was young I have tried several types of dance such as ballet and tap, but liturgical is my favorite. I have had the opportunity to dance on several platforms and stages and at several events.

Favorite pieces purchased from the Restore: A painting that hangs in my guest bathroom and this shaggy carpet for my media room (it feels like you’re walking on a pillow, so soft and plush).

Favorite memory with a Habitat Wake homeowner: I had the privilege to tell a homeowner that her mortgage was being paid off by an anonymous person who heard how much of a hard worker and great employee she was. The donor wanted to remain anonymous.  Needless to say she couldn’t believe it and cried and cried and cried.. Definitely a sweet moment to be a part of and to celebrate!. The homeowner vowed to pay it forward.
