Faith-Based Sponsorship
"Faith without works is as dead as a doornail," said Millard Fuller, founder of Habitat for Humanity International. Hundreds of faith organizations in Wake County take that philosophy to heart each year with financial gifts, volunteer labor, and friendship with Habitat families.
- Each year, the Apostles Build brings together 12 partner churches to fund and construct a Habitat home with a homeowner family.
- During the third week of September, faith communities participate in Building on Faith week to raise funds and raise walls with Habitat families in Wake County.
- Throughout the year, churches organize dinners, bowl-a-thons, car washes, golf tournaments, youth group activities, and other events to contribute to Habitat Wake house sponsorships and the general fund.
- A monthly e-newsletter - Building on Faith - is available to faith communities. Several resources, including speakers and curriculum, are offered to groups interested in learning more about our common call to provide shelter and strengthen families.
