Cornerstone Society
The Cornerstone Society was founded to recognize individuals who make gift plans to benefit Habitat Wake’s housing ministry beyond their lifetime – moving us ever closer to our shared vision of every family having a decent home. Individuals who notify us of their plans in 2011 will be considered charter members of the Cornerstone Society.
Unless advised otherwise, all legacy gifts will be invested into the Habitat Wake Endowment Fund, ensuring that your support of the Habitat mission continues forever.
There are many types of planned gifts that qualify for Cornerstone Society membership including:
Gifts that pay you income
- Charitable gift annuities
- Charitable remainder trusts
Gifts you make today
- Named endowments (honor or memorial)
- Charitable lead trusts
- Donor-advised funds
Gifts that benefit Habitat after your lifetime
- Bequests
- Beneficiary designations (e.g. life insurance, retirement plans)
- Give your home, but live there for life
The most common legacy gifts are given through wills. Following is the legal bequest language for Habitat Wake:
"I, [name], of [city, state, ZIP], give, devise and bequeath to Habitat
for Humanity of Wake County [written amount or percentage of the estate or
description of property] for its unrestricted use and purpose."
