DeConstruction Program

The Habitat ReStore DeConstruction Program salvages good and usable building materials from residential homes that are being demolished or remodelled in Wake County. At a competitive fee, our staff and volunteer DeCon Crews will come on site and perform strip outs. All donations of materials are tax-deductible and will be sold in the Habitat ReStore where proceeds support Habitat Wake and the building of safe and affordable housing for those in need.

Kitchen Cabinet Campaign '08

We're aiming to collect 40 pre-owned kitchen cabinet sets. The proceeds from selling them at our ReStore will fund the construction of an entire home built by Habitat. Are you remodeling? Then, we'd appreciate your donation. Call the Habitat Wake ReStore at 833-1999 x231 to make arrangements for us to remove the cabinets via our DeConstruction program or haul away the cabinets via our pick-up service.

DeConstruction Services Instead of Demolition

Habitat's skilled deconstruction staff (with helping hands from volunteers) can strip out cabinets for a mere $1 an inch: a fee calculated by measuring the width of the faces of both the upper and lower cabinets. Generally, tax-deductible cabinetry and acceptable appliances can be carefully removed and hauled away in half a day.

The DeConstruction Crew
performs partial and full-house demolitions. This competitively-priced service includes the removal of usable, tax-deductible materials such as decks, hardwood floors, cabinets, plumbing hardware architectural elements, doors, windows and lumber. After deconstruction is complete, the crew will level the house and haul away all construction debris.

Brightest Emerging Program Award

The Carolina Recycling Association Conference has chosen Habitat for Humanity ReStore's DeConstruction Program as the region's Brightest Emerging Program dedicated to waste reduction. Contenders for this prestigious award were from both North and South Carolina, and selection was based on community support, comprehensive future goals, and sustained waste reduction in our community.

Habitat's DeConstruction staff and volunteers remove salvageable building materials from remodeling projects and from homes slated for demolition. This effort diverts these usable materials away from local landfills and allows Habitat to sell them in ReStore to fund the building of new Habitat homes in Wake County. Salvaged materials include hardwood flooring, lumber, plumbing fixtures, cabinetry, windows, doors, hardware, lighting fixtures, and unique architectural items. Last year, ReStore diverted more than 2,000 tons of construction and demolition debris and other usable building products away from landfills.
